Virtual Research Project Internships are a great way to engage with the international academic research community working on projects that span a wide variety of disciplines and innovative areas of research, develop skills to conduct academic research, have the flexibility to build your schedule around already existing work and school commitments, obtain academic credit for your work, build your resume and make lasting connections for your future academic and work careers.
VIP students also participate in a Cyprus Cultural Series throughout the duration of the program, helping to immerse you further in the culture of your program host country, Cyprus and building upon the internationalization you will gain from participating in such a unique program!
1. Complete an Application
2. Wait for confirmation of match for the Research Internship Project for which you have applied.
3. Once a match is confirmed, you will take care of program payment under “Application Fee”. This will confirm your placement and you will be officially admitted to the program and sent your Acceptance Letter.
4. The only additional item we will need from you to complete your registration at the University of Nicosia for your Internship is a Copy of Your ID (Passport or Driver’s License). You will receive 6 ECTS transcripted credits upon completion of the program.
5. Prior to the start of the program you will be introduced to your Virtual Research Project Internship academic supervisor. Together you will schedule several synchronous meeting to take place over the duration of the program. Your academic supervisor will thoroughly explain to you the project on which you will work and will lay out for you your duties and work you will be required to complete. Internships typically have a work input of around 120-150 hrs total.
6. There will also be a VIP Program Orientation prior to the start of the program, where you will be provided with an introduction to your host county, Cyprus and your host institution, the University of Nicosia. Program logistics will also be covered and there will be a question and answer session.
7. You will be provided with Cyprus Cultural Series sessions to follow throughout the duration of the program. Sessions may be synchronous or asynchronous and will include guided reflection activities and questions. Examples of past sessions include, “An Overview of Cyprus History”, “The Mediterranean Diet”, “Cypriot Meze!”, “Cyprus and Music” and more.
8. Support is provided through the duration of the program from the Global Semesters team as well as from your academic supervisor.

Airfare to Florence
Airfare from the United States (New York) to Florence can range between $850 and $1,300, depending on the season and how far in advance the ticket was purchased. Connecting flights from other cities in the United States can add between $0 and $400 to this cost. We encourage students to finalize travel arrangements as early as possible to avoid high airfares.
Airport Pickup
UNGS will arrange to pick up students on the arrival date for the program. Students who arrive in Florence before the designated arrival date are responsible for arranging their own transportation and housing. All enrolled students will receive the pickup information prior to the start of the study abroad program.
