Overview

This program is a great option for students who want to undertake a comparative study of health care systems and the role that ethics, policy and culture play in managing care.

The course includes site visits to public and private hospitals and clinics where students will interact with healthcare professionals. *Dependent on availability and safety regulations in place at the time.

Curriculum

Courses

Students enroll in 2 Courses and earn 12 ECTS for this 4-Week Summer Program:

Site Visits

The program includes site-visits that will complement classroom teaching. Site visits may include:

  • Visits to Public & Private Hospitals and Clinics around the country to compare and contrast Socialized vs. Privatized Medicine, European Union vs. US Healthcare Systems, interaction with healthcare professionals.

Excursions

Students on our programs travel all around Cyprus as part of their program. Cyprus has 12,000 years of cultural history, world-famous beaches, and world-renowned geology.

In-Country Excursions:
Typically include, Overnight or Days Trips/Tours in Ayia Napa, Larnaca, Limassol, Paphos, Troodos, and Famagusta.

For overnight excursions, students typically stay in double occupancy hotel rooms.

Housing

All students are housed in single occupancy student residences with ensuite kitchens, bathrooms and private balconies. Students have access to building amenities which may include a gym, game room, study room, TV room, laundry facilities, cafes and restaurants.

All residences are located in the upscale neighbourhood of Makedonitissa, in Nicosia, and are surrounded by UNIC’s Vibrant Urban Campus.

UNIC City is home to more than 40 Restaurants, Coffee Shops, Pubs and Bars, Retail, Supermarkets, and more, all within walking distance.

Housing is randomly assigned. We try to house students from the same home institutions together when possible.

For any special housing requests, please speak with your Global Semesters enrollment advisor by the deadline for completing your Enrollment Forms.

  • There is an additional refundable damage deposit of $250, and a mandatory insurance of $150 that are not included in program fees.

Airfare to Florence

Airfare from the United States (New York) to Florence can range between $850 and $1,300, depending on the season and how far in advance the ticket was purchased. Connecting flights from other cities in the United States can add between $0 and $400 to this cost. We encourage students to finalize travel arrangements as early as possible to avoid high airfares.

Airport Pickup

UNGS will arrange to pick up students on the arrival date for the program. Students who arrive in Florence before the designated arrival date are responsible for arranging their own transportation and housing. All enrolled students will receive the pickup information prior to the start of the study abroad program.
